Privacy policy

Your State Standards (yourstatestandards.com) is an independent, privately run reference site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. Department of Education or any state education agency. We are the data controller for the limited information described below.

There are no user accounts, no sign-in, no newsletter, and no advertising identifiers of our own. We do not ask for your name, your email address, your school, or your location. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone, and we have never had a category of personal information to sell.

Every page on this site is a static file generated ahead of time. We do not log which standards you read, and we could not connect a page view to you if we wanted to.

We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit and which state pages get used, so we know which states to keep current. It sets cookies and collects the usual aggregate signals: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived. We never send it your name, your email, or anything you type.

You can read Google’s privacy policy, or block analytics with your browser’s tracking protection or an extension. The site works exactly the same either way.

A small number of ads, at the bottom of some pages, are served by Google AdSense and pay the hosting bill that keeps this site free. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve those ads, measure them, and where the law allows it, tailor them. We do not see who you are, and no ad network receives anything stored in your browser by this site.

The ads are aimed at the adult reading this site. This is a general-audience reference for teachers, administrators and parents, so we do not treat it as a child-directed service, and we block sensitive ad categories. There are no ads inside the standards themselves, and none on this page.

You can turn off personalised ads for your Google account at My Ad Center, read how Google uses data from sites that use its services, or block ads with an extension.

One thing is stored in this browser’s local storage: the last state you viewed, so the site can offer to take you back there. It never leaves your device, it is never sent to us, and clearing your browser’s site data removes it.

Cookies set by Google Analytics and Google AdSense are theirs rather than ours. Your browser settings and the links in the two sections above are the way to control them.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information a site holds about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, or to opt out of its sale or sharing. This applies to residents of California under the CCPA and CPRA, to residents of the EU and UK under the GDPR, and to residents of other states with comparable laws.

We hold no account, profile, or contact record for you, so in practice there is nothing for us to return or delete. What Google collects through Analytics and AdSense is governed by Google’s own policy and controlled through the links above. If you believe we hold something about you, write to us through the contact page and we will answer.

This site is built for teachers, administrators and parents. It is a general-audience reference rather than a service directed at children, there are no accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including anyone under 13. If you believe a child has somehow sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Standards pages link to state education agency documents, and some link to TV on a Rolling Cart, which we also run. Once you follow a link you are on another site under its own policy, and we are not responsible for what it collects.

Because we collect nothing, there is no personal information for us to retain or to lose. The site is served over HTTPS. Analytics and advertising data are retained by Google under its own retention settings.

We may update this policy as the site changes. The effective date at the top tells you when it last changed, and a material change will be reflected there. If anything here is unclear, or you want something removed, use the contact page.
