Oklahoma K–6 media arts standards

Oklahoma writes its own media arts standards. They are published as Oklahoma Academic Standards for Fine Arts, adopted 2023 and are not a version of a national framework. Every one is matched to a national standard.

  • E.MA.CN.1.1K–6

    Use personal and external resources, such as interests, information, and models, to create media art.

  • E.MA.CN.1.2K–6

    Identify and show how media art form meanings, impact and shape culture, and provide opportunities for self-expression.

  • E.MA.CN.2.1K–6

    Identify how media art and ideas relate to everyday life and can influence values and behavior.

  • E.MA.CN.2.2K–6

    Examine and interact appropriately with media arts tools and environments, considering safety, rules (such as copyright), and fairness, including the personal and social responsibility of media creation and sharing.

  • E.MA.CR.1.1K–6

    Use appropriate vocabulary, develop, and share multiple ideas for media art using a variety of tools, methods, and/or materials.

  • E.MA.CR.2.1K–6

    Create, share, and test ideas, plans, and models to prepare for media arts productions.

  • E.MA.CR.3.1K–6

    Create, organize, and edit content into unified, meaningful media art utilizing discipline-specific elements and principles (e.g., movement, force, time, space, etc.).

    Combine varied academic media content into unified media art.

  • E.MA.P.2.1K–6

    Exhibit developing ability in a variety of artistic roles, such as making compositional decisions, using competency tools and techniques, and collaborating with others to produce media art.
