Texas K–6 social-emotional learning standards

Texas writes its own social-emotional learning standards. They are published as Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Positive Character Traits and Personal Skills, adopted 2021 and are not a version of a national framework. 41 of 42 are matched to a national standard.

  • K-2.CHT.1.AK–2

    The student understands how personal skills, choices, and actions relate to character building. The student is expected to: describe how personal choices lead to personal actions;

  • K-2.CHT.1.BK–2

    The student understands how personal skills, choices, and actions relate to character building. The student is expected to: explain what it means to be trustworthy; and

  • K-2.CHT.1.CK–2

    The student understands how personal skills, choices, and actions relate to character building. The student is expected to: identify personal actions that build trustworthiness, including being honest and punctual.

  • K-2.CHT.2.AK–2

    The student understands the concept of responsibility and how personal actions and self-management skills demonstrate responsibility. The student is expected to: describe and give examples of how feelings and beliefs influence personal actions;

  • K-2.CHT.2.BK–2

    The student understands the concept of responsibility and how personal actions and self-management skills demonstrate responsibility. The student is expected to: describe how to make personal choices before speaking and acting;
